Anyone interested in bringing their Hiliner to a boat show?
The last weekend of August is the annual Antique & Classic Boat Show in Salem, MA. I’m curious to see if any of you New England owners would be interested in bringing your boats to this show and having our own Hiliner class.
This is the website for the show. http://www.boatfestival.org/
Take a look and let me know what you think.
I’d be interested in bringing my 1959 Fleetstar, never been, was going to stop in last year but the weather didn’t cooperate at all.

Hi Jim,
Randy here from Amesbury, we chatted a while back. My family grew up with a Fleetstar on Winnipesaukee, we owned it from about 61 to 71.
I finally purchased one this winter that I originally saw in Somerville MA, purchsed at DanDee in Wellesley MA. I followed it around the country for a few years through several owners who never used it, I’ll have it here come the Spring. I already have the original 700 Merc ready to go for it. I’ll be using it on the Merrimac river etc. close to it’s roots.
If you need people to go to Salem I think I could do that. I participate in ACBS and take the other boats I have restored to their show in Meredith NH.
The site continues to improve..NICE WORK! THANK-YOU!

Hi Jim,
Randy again, forgot to mention the boat I have been chasing is the 59 fleetstar you have 2 pictures posted of on the site, with the bronze and chrome Merc Mark 78 on it. So ya got pictures of my boat already! I got the boat with no motor. Ours had a Mark 75 red/tan which dad replaced with a 700 in 62. I have both motors but will use the 700, I was not really old enough to “bond” with the Mark 75.

Randy,
I was wondering where that Fleetstar went. Glad to hear you tracked it down. I’d love to come see your boat when it arrives. There are also a few other local owners who would be excited to see it.
As for the show in Salem. I think if we can get 3+ boats there it would be fun event. The boat i want to bring needs a bit of work. Committing to a show is a great motivator to get things done.

I’ll give ya a call when I get the boat “home”. I need to see what you have squirrled way too!
I have lot’s of 60’s home movie footage converted to VHS of the boat and skiing etc. and lot’s of still photos with various family members.

I just got a notice about this year’s 31st annual event; It is scheduled for August 24-25, 2013 at the Brewer Hawthorne Cove Marina, in Salem, MA. I went last year and enjoyed the many exhibits and boats, large and small, there on land and in the water….
